Why you shouldn’t have just .co.uk backlinks

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

One of the most common questions we are asked is if we can supply links solely from .co.uk domains. Whilst it is possible, it is not something we would ever recommend.

The most fundamental principal of any linking campaign is for it to look natural to the search engines and by their very nature, naturally occurring backlinks are always going to be from radically diverse websites. If you only have links from .co.uk domains, how natural do you think that would look to a search engine? Equally, would you discount a link from Wikipedia, or Facebook, or even Google – none of which are UK-based? Of course you wouldn’t.

The thing to remember above anything else with a linking strategy is that there really isn’t such a thing as a ‘bad’ link. Some links will be of greater value than others but overall, you NEED a diverse range of links to look like they are naturally occurring.
